What is ‘Little Pips’?
Little Pips’ is a new babies and toddler group taking place at Birmingham Cathedral. The group takes place on Fridays, 10.30 – 11.30am during term time.
What’s the format?
At 10.30am we start with free play with lots of toys and games, for about 45 minutes. Then we gather together to, light a candle, hear some stories, sing a song and then say a short prayer.
Refreshments are available throughout the session for carers and their Little Pips’.
Where will the group take place?
Little Pips will be held in the tower area of the cathedral which is the space at the back of the cathedral. We also invite and encourage carers and their Little Pips’ to enjoy and explore the cathedral. Storytime and songs take place at the front of the cathedral and we light a candle at different places in the cathedral each week.
What age is ‘Little Pips’ for?
Little Pips is for toddlers and babies under 5. Older siblings are welcome, but the group is not designed to accommodate their needs.
Is the group free?
We look forward to welcoming you to the cathedral, and there is no charge to take part in Little Pips’, but we would welcome a suggested £2 donation to help us cover our costs.
Will there be refreshments available?
Yes! These will be available for adults and children throughout the session. There will be tea and coffee available for adults and a snack, water or juice for our Little Pips’. Our volunteers will be on hand to assist you.
Where can I leave my pushchair?
There will be space for pushchairs in the north aisle and at the back of the cathedral.Our verger team and volunteers will be happy to assist you.
Where can I leave my personal belongings?
Please keep your personal belongings with you at all time as we cannot take responsibility for any lost or stolen items. If you would like to store your valuables in a secure place please see one of the team who will be able to help you.
Are there changing facilities available?
Yes. There is a disabled toilet which has a pull down change mat. We will also provide some changing essentials in case of emergency.
Who will be running the group?
Our Head of Learning, Louisa Harrop as well as a team of volunteers and members of our clergy team. The cathedral verger team will also be on hand to help and assist with any issues.
Do I need to register my interest?
The group is an informal drop in group but if you are able to get in touch and let us know you will joining us then please do. For safety, we ask new visitors to the group to fill in a short form so that we have your contact details if we need them – these will never be shared with third parties.
