Worship in the cathedral will be conducted under very careful conditions in order to make this as safe as possible;
Tickets: Following guidance from the government and Church of England, we must limit numbers very strictly in order to enable social distancing. For the time being, we are required to operate a booking system for services and entrance will be by ticket only.There will be short services of Holy Communion each Sunday at 0900 and 1100*. The cathedral will be closed between the services for cleaning.
You are warmly invited to book your ticket for Sunday 16 August:
9am - Book here
11am - Book here
*This service will also be recorded live.
Please note that booking is on a first come, first served basis and the deadline for all bookings is 4pm each Friday. If there are no tickets left for either service when you try to book, please email email@example.com and you will be given priority the following week. In line with government guidance, all booking details will be retained for 21 days for contact tracing purposes.
Health: Please do not attend if you are unwell or you or a member of your household has Coronavirus symptoms.
Face coverings: *Government advice has been updated.* From 8 August, those who attend worship or come into the cathedral for private prayer are now required to wear face coverings unless they have a valid exemption, consistent with the requirements for any other public space. This includes as you arrive at the cathedral for Sunday’s Eucharist, during the service, and as you leave at the end. In order to receive Communion safely, please bring a bottle of hand sanitiser with you if possible for use before and after removing your face covering before coming up to receive Communion, and again as you replace your face covering. There are also hand sanitising stations in the north and south aisles for your use. Those officiating at services continue to be exempt which is very helpful in terms of accessibility and audibility so the clergy will not wear face coverings for most of the service but will wear them for the administration of Communion.www.birminghamcathedral.com. We are also very grateful for regular donations which can be made via the parish giving scheme: to set this up, please visit www.parishgivingscheme.org.uk; you will need these details – Church/Parish Name: St Philip; PGS Parish Code: 020602001.
Finally… Inevitably with these measures in place, the service will feel somewhat different to usual, but we hope very much that you will know yourself to be welcome; find the space that you need to worship and pray; and be reassured by the measures that are being put in place for everyone’s safety.
