Birmingham Bach Choir Magnificat
This concert is being given in memory of Stanley Sellers, architect, artist, potter, who was the long-term partner of Richard Butt, the conductor of the Birmingham Bach Choir before Paul Spicer. Stanley Sellers specially requested a performance of J S Bach’s Magnificat and left the choir a very generous legacy to enable the concert to take place. The programme also includes Bach’s Cantata 31 which was written in the same year that St. Philip’s Cathedral was built. With Handel’s youthful Dixit Dominus and Bach’s exuberant one-movement Cantata 50 this will be a truly celebratory concert.
