‘Traject’ is an interdisciplinary artwork by Jane Calow exploring the idea of a ‘moveable site’ through an artist’s book and the conversion of seismic data into music, highlighting themes of spatialisation and displacement.
Seismic readings were taken at Old Square in Birmingham; a computer programme was used to translate the readings into music.
Cellist, Juliet McCarthy will perform the music in Birmingham Cathedral, followed by an open discussion with the artist. During the performance each audience member will hold an edition of the artist’s book that is part of the artwork.
