National Clean Air Day
The UK’s first-ever National Clean Air Day is on 15 June and we want everyone to know we’re serious about cutting air pollution in Birmingham, which contributes to up to 900 deaths a year in our city.
To support this, Birmingham City Council in partnership with Transport for West Midlands and Colmore BID are holding a market-place event in St. Philip’s Cathedral grounds, Colmore Row, Birmingham B3 2QB between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. At the market place, stalls will be manned by organisations providing information on sustainable travel – walking, cycling and public transport, as well as promoting reduced emissions cars used by Amey as part of their infrastructure maintenance fleet.
There will be free bicycle security marking at the event, and advice on ticketing options from National Express West Midlands who will also be providing information on their fleet of low emission vehicles. Brompton Hire Bikes will also be there to promote the 5 docks with bikes for hire within the city centre. Global Action Plan, the co-ordinators of National Clean Air Day will also have a stall at the event.
