Refuge Week Ribbon Reflection
We will be holding two very special events during Refugee Week 18-24th June to encourage a greater understanding between different communities in Birmingham and to celebrate our respective contributions. The overall theme is ‘Different Pasts, Shared Future’ as a reminder of those who have found and continue to find refuge in our city.
On Tuesday 19th June from 1-2 pm come and tie a ribbon onto a tree in Cathedral Square. Join us in pausing to remember those who came to Britain on the Empire Windrush 70 years ago, and take a moment for quiet reflection, prayers and thoughts for all those who have found sanctuary.
The Sunday at the end of Refugee Week is Sanctuary Sunday 24th June. The first national service of this commemoration will be marked at Birmingham Cathedral at 1.30pm. People from across the city are warmly invited to join us in worship, prayer and to listen to a variety of speakers.
