Evensong for the Business Community
Come and discover why thousands of people are turning out to hear the 500-year-old unbroken tradition around Britain, many for the first time.
You may have visited the cathedral before or simply passed through Cathedral Square on your way to and from work. This will be a fantastic opportunity to call in after work and take a moment to reflect whilst enjoying beautiful choral music sung by the Cathedral Choir. You are welcome to participate in the service or simply to sit and enjoy the music and peace.
What is Evensong?
Choral Evensong is proving more and more popular. As an English language service, Evensong dates back to the time of the Reformation, although its roots are much older. The music took shape in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, with great composers like William Byrd and Thomas Tallis developing exquisite choral music specifically for this service, and in each subsequent generation new composers have added great music to the repertoire of Evensong.
Drinks and canapés will be served after the service and there will be an opportunity to take a look around our breathtaking cathedral.
We would be delighted to know whether you are able to attend by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by 0121 262 1840, purely for catering purposes.
