The regular rhythm of daily worship is the heart beat of the cathedral’s mission and life. We seek to offer worship of the highest quality across a range of traditional and contemporary services. Our normal term-time pattern is as follows:

  • 9:00 Holy Communion
  • 11:00 Choral Eucharist (with healing ministry on the 4th Sunday of the month)
  • 15:30 Evening Prayer or Choral Evensong

Monday to Friday

  • 8:00 Morning Prayer and Holy Communion
  • 12:00 Midday Prayers
  • 13:10 Wednesday Holy Communion following the book of common prayer, either said or choral
  • 13:10 Thursday Healing Service (normally 3rd Thursday of the month)
  • 17:45 Evening Prayer or Choral Evensong

  • 9:00 Morning Prayer and Holy Communion
  • 12:00 Midday Prayers
  • 15:30 Evening Prayer or Choral Evensong

The morning service at lasts a prompt 30 minutes making it possible to attend prior to work. The evening service provides a time of spiritual reflection in which to gather the matters of the working day.

During term time and at Christmas and Easter the Cathedral Choir sings at the main Sunday services as well as at weekday Evensong (usually Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday). We are grateful to our voluntary choirs for their music on some Wednesday lunchtimes and some Sundays. Visiting choirs often sing Evensong on Saturdays and in holidays.
