The cathedral will be open for private prayer Monday to Saturday 10am - 2pm and Sunday 1pm - 3pm and also for public worship with 9am and 11am services of Holy Communion on Sundays
We will continue to broadcast daily prayers and Friday Compline via the cathedral's YouTube channel, but also look forward to welcoming those who are able to join us in person. However, we are aware that this will not be possible for everyone.Worship in the cathedral will be conducted under very careful conditions in order to make this as safe as possible;
Tickets: Following guidance from the government and Church of England, we must limit numbers very strictly in order to enable social distancing. For the time being, we are required to operate a booking system for services and entrance will be by ticket only. There will be short services of Holy Communion each Sunday at 0900 and 1100*. The cathedral will be closed between the services for cleaning.
Please note that booking is on a first come, first served basis and the deadline for all bookings is 5pm each Saturday. If there are no tickets left for either service when you try to book, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and you will be given priority the following week. In line with government guidance, all booking details will be retained for 21 days for contact tracing purposes.
Arriving at the cathedral: The cathedral will be open half an hour before each service begins in order to stagger arrivals. We will open at 0830 for the 0900 service and at 1030 for the 1100 service. There will be a hand-sanitising station in the porch and others within the cathedral. Please observe social distancing requirements as you find your seat.
Health: Please do not attend if you are unwell or you or a member of your household has Coronavirus symptoms. We are advised that it is not necessary to wear masks but those who wish to are very welcome to.
Seating: All seating will be unreserved. We regret that it will not generally be possible to seat households together. Please indicate when booking if you require a carer to sit with you or will be attending with children aged 12 or under so we can make appropriate arrangements.
Toilets: There will be limited toilet facilities available in the cathedral.
Service booklets: The order of service will be emailed to you shortly before the service so you can print it at home or follow it on a tablet or phone. We will also make a small number of printed copies available in the cathedral.
Leaving the service: After the service, you will be encouraged to leave the cathedral promptly and safely. At the present time, we are not able to offer refreshments.
Finally… Inevitably with these measures in place, the service will feel somewhat different to usual, but we hope very much that you will know yourself to be welcome; find the space that you need to worship and pray; and be reassured by the measures that are being put in place for everyone’s safety.
